Samsung and Apple, there always seems to be an ongoing battle. Some people prefer the Samsung Galaxy device while others prefer the iPhone and there is nothing to change the opinion of these people. According to a newly published set of test results, the Galaxy S6 with its octa-core processor finds itself outdone by the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with their dual-core chips and 1GB of RAM when it comes to graphics performance and we have all the details in this post.

The Galaxy S6 is no doubt the best Android smartphone around in both design and performance. The camera on this smartphone is brilliant as is the super sharp quad-HD display that gives the phone a pixel density of 577ppi. The problem is that the overkill of a display is dragging down the performance of the phone when doing graphic intensive tasks.

AppleInsider conducted a series of performance tests on the Galaxy S6, and noted that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are clearly ahead of this Samsung device. All graphics performance tests based on various benchmarks show the significant hit that the Galaxy S6 is taking despite the fancy spec sheet that the smartphone comes with.

Android devices are usually marketed and pitched as powerful and fantastic devices but this has never seemed to threaten or out-perform the iPhone or iPad. Samsung has pushed screen technology ahead of its own processor capabilities in the case of the Galaxy S6 and this has resulted in extremely poor performance in high definition. Interestingly though, it is not just the Samsung that has taken a hit from packing in more pixels in their display, the iPhone 6 Plus resulted in graphics that were in some cases slower at their native resolution than 2013's iPhone 5s.

You can see the results of all the tests on the AppleInsider website but the conclusion is that Samsung has made bad engineering choices with the S6 model. They have opted to push better displays over key internal hardware, such as the GPU and CPU. Since the screen is bound to push more pixels around, the Galaxy S6 falls short in terms of performance when compared to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that come with Apple's second generation 64-bit A8 chip. This result is seen even though the Samsung comes with 3GB of RAM. Apple wins in the display stakes as well as having the advantage of optimizing its software according to its hardware giving it the edge over everyone else in the industry.

Apple devices have always been in a league of their own when it comes to mobile gaming and the recent Metal technology that has been included with iOS 8 is really pushing the boundaries of mobile graphics. We do feel that Apple's decision to stick to a pixel density that doesn't overkill will continue to pay off for them against the likes of the Galaxy S6. We would love to hear your comments on this and how you feel in the comments section below.
