We love Apple's Free App of the Week deal and this week is no different. This week's app is Dark Echo, a sound-based horror game that only made its debut on iOS last month. Some of the app that end up being the App of the Week can in fact be a little stale and not that great, but Dark Echo is definitely one that you will want to download now while you can and if you keep reading this post we will tell you why.
Normally priced at $1.99, Dark Echo is free this week. The game uses sound in a way that we haven't see before. If you like atmospheric games then you will love this and it will take things to a whole new level. There are 80 different levels to play through in this title, so you will be getting plenty of entertainment value if you can manage to find your way around in the dark.
In this game you are left to explore the world using nothing but sound, but the catch is that the same sound is also attracting something very unpleasant to you too. The game description says it so much better: “Trapped in darkness, you must use visualized sound to guide your way through threatening environments. The sounds you create will bounce off obstacles, revealing the shape of the surrounding world. It won't be long before your only way of sensing the world attracts a horrifying evil the devours both sound and souls.” Sounds terrifying doesn't it, and in today's gaming world this is something that you will definitely enjoy. It's different too.
Dark Echo has been received really well so far even at full price, and now that it's free, it should be a game that is part of your iOS collection. One of the great things about this game is that it doesn't feature and in-app purchases, which isn't always the case when games are part of the App of the Week promotion. If you download Dark Echo now, you get a completely free game with nothing whatsoever to buy. It is available right now on the App Store so be sure to check it out today while you still can.
